Amalfi Coast Tour
- Duration: 8 hours
Description
Amalfi coast tour
Experience and taste the undiscovered side of Amalfi Coast. Driver will meet you at your villa and bring you along the ss163 Amalfitana road that was built approximately 160 years ago. While enjoying the dramatic landscapes between the mountains and the sea, our driver will talk about the history and show the beautiful villas made in the Mediterranean style, sometimes owned by celebrities. Along the way you will see small fishing villages that still bear witness to the old lifestyle, unique bays and caves such as the Emerald Grotto: a beautiful cave full of stalactites and stalagmites and an incredible emerald color raising from the water through small underwater tunnels. During the tour we will stop in Amalfi, once a strong and powerful maritime Republic that extended it’s domination all over the mediterranean. In fact, the most popular monument in town is its Cathedral founded in the IX Century and renovated with different styles.
After Amalfi we will continue our tour to Ravello: situated on a small promontory once called Cimbronium, a beautiful land overlooking the sea and the villages of Minori and Maiori. Its beauty was immortalized by Boccaccio in “Decameron” and William Turner with his paintings that are now exposed to the Tate Gallery in London. Ravello in the past was a meeting place of poets and musicians and it keeps the beauty that inspired those artists in the villas Rufolo and Cimbrone.
